Kohima, July 16 (MExN): A two-day workshop on Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Management (DIDRM) was organised by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities on July 14 and 15. 

The two-day workshop is part of the project being carried out by the Office of the State Disability Commissioner to ‘Strengthen Disability Inclusion in Disaster Management in Nagaland’

The resource person was Dr Shivani Gupta, Technical Advisor Inclusion (Community Based Inclusive Development Initiative), CBM, stated a press release received here. 

Participants included NSDMA and SDRF team members, NGOs and organisations working with children, women and elderly and Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.

The first day of the workshop included sessions on Understanding Disability and intersectionality, Barriers faced by persons with disabilities, diverse requirements of different disability groups, and Legislative mandates for Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR). The day two focused on community mapping and strength and weakness analyses, stakeholder analyses, developing a disability-inclusive disaster management plan, feedback of groups, and data collection and inclusive budgeting.
