Strive towards greater height: NLA Speaker

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie today expressed his happiness over the splendid and manifold activities being carried out by Phesama Youth Society (PYS).

Gracing the golden jubilee celebration of PYS here this morning under the theme “ Aspiring greater height” Peseyie was optimistic that the celebration will provide an opportunity to drive messages about active and healthy living and promote social and communal harmony.

Honouring the pioneers of PYS, Peseyie also stressed on need to introspect and retrospect the achievements as well as the shortcomings and at the same time called upon the PYS to strive towards greater height. 

“I also hope that your activities will help in spotting talented youth and nurture them to strive for sporting excellence,” the Speaker said and at the same time hoped that the PYS could stand as a pillar of strength and spearhead the society towards a prosperous future “which the posterity will cherish.”

Peseyie also expects that the PYS will strive its activities by upholding the principle of their motto “One for all, All for me” to reach the goal in shaping a prosperous society which is the good prescription for a transparent and result oriented function of any organization thereby “it can stand as testimony to other organizations in the state.” 

Earlier, the Speaker unveiled the jubilee monolith and also released a souvenir to mark the glorious 50 years of PYS. PYS president Neilhouvi Chütso in his presidential address hoped that the golden jubilee celebration will bring better understanding, peace and unity.

In a souvenir, Yhoshü said Phesama village is well known for the quality of their youth in various fields, notable among which is producing many of the best and finest sportspersons and teams among “our people.”

“This village is always full of sports and games, be it athletics, wrestling or various other games; and is recognized for its keen competitive spirit, discipline and training, which has led to the remarkable achievements, outstanding performances and records over the years,” Yhoshü penned.

He also stated that the village has brought us honour and glory not only at the area or state level, but also at many higher levels, achieving extraordinary excellence more than expectations. He continued that the youth of Phesama are shining examples of what can be achieved when the youth are united and work towards excellence. 

The function was chaired by organizing committee convenor Tuolie Seleyi. Vilelie Khamo and friends also entertained the gathering with a folk song. St. Paul School students presented drill display while Phesama Thenumiapfü Krotho performed jubilee rhythm.

The inaugural function was compered by Asano Zashümo and Vipu Zashümo. 

Meanwhile, MLA Vikho-o Yhoshü will grace the cultural day on January 7 from 9:30 AM onwards.
