Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): Loyola School, Jakhama launched its Consumer Rights Club with support from the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Government of Nagaland on June 24.
Loyola School, Jakhama Headmaster Fr Joseph Coelho SJ in a press release said that advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, President, Nagaland Voluntary Consumers Organization delivered the key-note address and inaugurated the club. Savi raised pertinent issues like price rise, menace of fund raising, sub-standard goods that flood our markets, and price rise in services without adequate improvement in services. In other places the public raise their voice in the case of any price rise. But he lamented that in Nagaland when prices are raised there is absolutely no voice of dissent heard. In other places shops offer discounts and organize sales to promote business and give people better deals during celebrations like Puja and Diwali. In Nagaland, during festivals like Christmas and Hornbill, the prices of goods double. He exhorted the students to be the voice for change. “A vigilant consumer is an asset to the nation,” he stressed.
