The Nagaland team ended their campaign at the ongoing Diamond Jubilee edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament on a high note even though they failed to qualify for the next round.

Nagaland’s Greenwood Higher Secondary School defeated Haryana’s Vishvas Nav Sharda Public School (CBSE) 5-0, riding on braces by Akito and Imtikumba in a Pool C encounter on August 24.

However, it was not enough to take them to the quarters as the team from Nagaland needed to win by at least 10 goals or by 9 goals without conceding any.

While Nagaland earned a walkover against Haryana on August 23, their main contender in the group, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) scored an emphatic 9-0 win over CBSE on Thursday.

Only the pool winner will qualify for the quarter-final round of tournament. Nagaland is in Pool–C along with BKSP (Bangladesh), CBSE, Haryana and Team 15. Both Haryana and Team 15 failed to turn up for the Diamond Jubilee edition of the tournament.

With this, the Nagaland team led by Mughato Aye (Team coach), Akihito Zhimomi (Team Manager) and assisted by other two official, ended their campaign without losing a match, or conceding any goals.
