With the Haryana Team giving the Subroto Cup International Football tournament a miss this edition, the U-14 team from Nagaland has a daunting task ahead for their final Pool-C match against CBSE (Vishvas Nav Sharda Public School, Fatehbad, Haryana).

 

In order to qualify for quarterfinals, the players from Greenwood Higher Secondary School representing Nagaland have to beat CBSE on August 24 either by over 10 goals or by 9 goals without conceding any, to stay in contention. 

 

While Nagaland earned a walkover against Haryana on August 23, their main contender in the group, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), Bangladesh scored an emphatic 9-0 win over CBSE on Thursday.  

 

Only the pool winner will qualify for the quarterfinal round of tournament. Nagaland is in Pool–C along with BKSP (Bangladesh), CBSE, Haryana and Team 15. Both Haryana and Team 15 are not taking part in the Diamond Jubilee edition of the tournament. 

 

The under-14 (Boys team) Nagaland is led by Mughato Aye (Team coach), Akihito Zhimomi (Team Manager) and assisted by other two officials.

Meanwhile, Day 2 and 3 of Subroto Cup International Football tournament turned out to be a goal fest as the day saw many high scoring matches.

 

On August 22, in Pool B, Chattisgarh’s Ramkrishna Mission Vivekanand Vidyapeeth scored an emphatic win 7-0 over Maharashtra’s Maharashtra High School and College.

 

In Pool C, Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Protishthan (BKSP) defeated Vishwas Nav Sharda School, Fatehabad (CBSE) by 9-0.

 

In Pool D, defending champions Unique Model Academy, Manipur had an easy run against Air Force School notching up their second victory with a 6-0 drubbing.

 

In Pool E, Mizoram’s Saidan Secondary School acquired a massive victory over Dr. YSR Sports School, Andhra Pradesh 13-1.

 

In Pool F, Chandigarh’s Govt. Model High School displayed their tactical expertise and grabbed their 3 points against NCC NER.

 

In Pool G, Kerala’s GOHS Edathanattuara team defeated Sainik School, IPSC by 6-0.

 

In Pool H, Meghalaya’s District War Sepngi Christian Higher Sec. School were unstoppable as they defeated The Sanskaar Valley School, Madhya Pradesh 13-0.

 

On August 23,  District War Sepngi Christian Higher Sec. School Meghalaya continued their  good run as the team defeated  Major Dhyan Chand Sports College, Safai 3-0.

 

Tripura Sports School, Panisagar also won their match against Kendriya Vidyalaya Maithon Dam, Ranchi with a 2-1 soreline.

 

Ashokenagar Boys Secondary School (H.S.), West Bengal also inflicted a thumping 11-0 defeat to  Our Lady Mount Carmel High School Arambol, Goa.
