When the Christmas season arrives, it is a time of great joy and reunion. Family members, whether staying near or far, make every effort to return to their homes, native places, and churches to celebrate the festive season together. It is indeed a beautiful time filled with love, warmth, and happiness.

During this season, churches plan and prepare various programmes and activities to mark the celebration and to worship the Almighty. Likewise, village/colony/ward organizations organize community sports, gatherings and other social events. While these programmes and events bring people together and create a festive atmosphere, it is often noticeable that many family members become so occupied with such programmes and activities that they have little time left to spend quality moments with their loved ones at home.

In the midst of these joyful celebrations and activities, let us pause and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and the importance of family time. I am sure that certain churches and organization are already doing what I am about to suggest. Meanwhile, I would like to suggest that our churches consider planning and dedicating at least one day/evening/night for a FAMILY GOSPEL SERVICE, encouraging families to gather, worship, pray and share together in their own homes. Each church may set the timing according to its convenience. Similarly, village/colony/ward organizations or associations can design meaningful/quality programmes that strengthen family bonds and encourage togetherness.

Almost everything-whether good or bad-begins from the family. When we spend quality time with our loved ones, we build stronger relationships, nurture positive values, and ultimately contribute to a healthier and happier society. As human beings, we are social by nature, meant to live and grow together. Participating in social and co-curricular activities helps us develop teamwork, empathy, and a sense of belonging. Yet, in all our engagements, let us not forget that the family is the first and most important place where love, faith, and values are learned and shared. A family that spends time together builds a foundation for a better society.

This note is not meant as a criticism, but rather as a gentle reminder that amidst all our celebrations and community engagements, family remains the heart of Christmas.
