Zunheboto, July 3 (MExN): The apex organization of the Sumi community, Sumi Hoho held its general conference on July 2 at town hall, Zunheboto.
During the conference, the new Sumi Hoho team was constituted with Nikheto Zhimo as its President and Dr Vihuto Asumi as General Secretary besides other nominated members from different Sumi inhabited areas as Sumi Hoho office bearers and executive members for the tenure 2021-2024.
Minister for Agriculture, G Kaito Aye lauded the Zunheboto Medical Department for tirelessly working and having achieved the highest number of vaccinated individuals in Nagaland and said that it was the only weapon to fight against COVID-19. He appealed the leaders from various areas to act as an instrument to clear speculations among the citizens.
The Minister also launched the Sumi Migration book during the programme.
Convenor of the Sumi Migration Committee, Dr Hokishe Yepthomi, speaking at the book launch said that the committee started its venture of accumulation of data from the year 2014 under the presidentship of Hovishe Arkha and added that the book was written as per the reports collected from the village head of different villages.
Principal Secretary, Urban Development and President, Sumi Officers’ Union Nagaland, Himato Zhimomi called upon the leaders of all areas to give detailed road map of their own villages and submit it to the Sumi Hoho, and then to the legislators. In that way, road map to every village will be in the knowledge of all Sumis creating clearer knowledge for the upcoming generation, he opined.
Zhimomi also donated a laptop and a desktop to begin their work towards betterment of the Sumis.
Outgoing President Hekhushe Shikhu delivered the presidential address while consecration of old and new members was conducted by Pastor, ZTSBC Rev Dr Daniel Chishi.
