In support of the need of CBI in Nagaland

•-I fully agree with Mr Rikho Lotha demanding CBI inquiry into corruption in Nagaland that was published in Morung express on 28/9/11. Supplementing his article I wish to add that unlike the evil caste system in Indian society, Nagas have two strata of people; 'the rich and the poor'. There is no middle class of people in Naga society. The rich and powerful are soaring higher and higher with their ill-gotten wealth accumulated by means of corrupt practices. Democracy in Nagaland is a license for the powerful to loot freely public money without any check and balances. I don't blame all rich people. Many have become rich because of their hard labour. But, I am meaning to say about the corrupt and powerful people. They have palatial buildings, most expensive cars, fields, lands, bank deposits, lavish life style etc which are beyond their known sources of income. The Vigilance Commission in Nagaland is just a paper tiger, toothless and dictated by people in power. The need for a strong investigation agency like the CBI is the immediate need of the hour in Nagaland. But, the CBI wouldn't just land up here without the requisition of the state govt. And no govt of the day would do that to jail oneself. It would be suicidal. Nagas need some one like Anna Hazare to lead the people for Revolution and Reformation. Nagaland may even rank no 1 in corruption. Yesterday, people who were loitering in the streets without proper house, money and good name are rulers today. From 'rags to riches' within few months and years. How is it possible? The simple answer is loot peoples' money. Those people who were sent to bring development, employment, voice grievances for the people are today acting like dictator- with no body above them. Sudden success and glory have taken better of them. They have forgotten that they have been chosen to serve and not to be served.
Dear Nagas, rise up! the power lies with the people. It is the people who will decide to choose this or that. Let us not be timid and relent to the present evil of corruption practiced by corrupt leaders and officials in Nagaland. Enough is enough. The Church, and various NGOs should rise up to the occasion and not remain silent.
