Mokokchung, April 26 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Administration conducted surprise checking of fuel pump stations in and around Mokokchung town on April 25. The team carried out an inspection drive in all the fuel stations within Mokokchung Municipal Area and Ungma village, stated a DIPR report.

The team comprised of the District Administration led by the Chairman, Investigating Team, Vitolu EAC (Judicial) and team members including Inspector, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection Department Mokokchung; OC PS-1 Mokokchung; OC PS-2 Mokokchung; chairman of Sungkomen, Aongza, Mongsenbai, Yimyu Ward and Village Council Ungma.

According to the DIPR report, the team checked and verified the fuel dispensing machine measurement standard as per the relevant section of Indian Petroleum Rule 1976 in all the fuel stations and also collected the quality samples which will be sent for further laboratory testing. The team also inspected the basic amenities in the station facilities like clean drinking water, clean toilet facilities with running water, fire extinguisher, fuel dispensing machine seals and free air.

The team sealed one dispensing machine at ESSAR fuel station at Artang ward for not dispensing the standard measurement of fuel. However, “the team rectified the reason and found out that it was due to leakage loss in the machine dispensing system.” The manager of the station was directed not to dispense any fuel to the costumer by the defective pump machine till the machine is repaired and made functional.
