In an effort to uphold public health and safety, the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), under the initiative of Councillor Niukali K. Assumi, Convener of Livestock, Slaughterhouse, Public Health, and Food Safety, carried out a surprise inspection of livestock and slaughterhouses in and around Zunheboto town.
The inspection was conducted with the support of veterinary doctors from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Zunheboto, along with officials from the district administration and the police department.
The drive aimed to ensure that livestock products being sold and consumed meet proper health and hygiene standards. Authorities also checked for compliance with existing regulations governing slaughterhouses and meat sales.
The ZTC reminded all stakeholders, including meat vendors and livestock handlers, of their responsibility to maintain quality standards and prioritize consumer safety.
The council further stated that such inspections would continue periodically to ensure strict adherence to public health guidelines and prevent the sale of unfit or contaminated meat products.
