DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): An attempt was made to hack and sabotage Hornbill Festival website Hornbillfestival.com on December 4, few days after it was awarded the Manthan Award South Asia & Asia Pacific. Quick action by the site management prevented any damage but the website went down for over 6 hours. This was informed in a press note issued by Dr Yan Murry, Founder Hornbillfestival.com.
A complaint was registered at the SP Dimapur’s office under Section 66 of the Information Technology Act which deals with Cybercrimes like hacking. The case has been forwarded to award winning cybercop Atou Zumvu.
There are a number of evidences to point that the offender resides in Malaysia. Dr. Yan Murry, founder of Hornbillfestival.com said that it is not surprising that a Malaysian is in the picture. A yearly Hornbill Festival is organized in Kula Lumpur Malaysia, so many people there know about our festival through the website he added.
