Mokokchung, March 30 (MExN): Ahead of the forthcoming by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency, the Mokokchung district administration conducted a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP)-cum-coordination meeting with the Longkhum Village Council at Longkhum village on March 30.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, during his interaction, emphasised the responsibility of the village council in guiding the community in socio-political matters and ensuring progress.
He said the council, as an authorised institution, has a key role in creating awareness and fostering a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of the by-election.
Verma added that the election machinery would maintain close coordination with the council to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election process. Following the programme, the DC and officials inspected polling stations in the village.
