KOHIMA, JULY 21 (MExN): The Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) outreach programme was conducted at Sahitya Sabha Hall, Kohima on July 21 for the students of Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Kiusumong Tikhir highlighted on the strategy of Election Commission of India guideline to the students.
He said that the SVEEP campaign is a special drive to young people to enroll their name in the electoral roll and stated that young people are the leaders of tomorrow and they should be good decision makers in electing their representatives and become good citizens in the near future.
The ADC also informed that one should register their name in the electoral roll in one particular place on or before July 31. While interacting with student community the ADC highlighted that if anybody is found exercising proxy voting one year imprisonment will be given as per Election Commission of India.
