Zunheboto, November 16 (MExN): The Sümi Wrestling Association (SWA) conducted a Freestyle, Greco-Roman Style, and Women’s Wrestling training camp at Ighanumi Village in Zunheboto district on November 15.
More than 30 young wrestling enthusiasts, both boys and girls, participated in the programme.
Kikhwesul Thokhwe, Co-opted Technical Secretary of the Nagaland Wrestling Association and State Coach, Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports, Kohima, delivered technical briefings and training on Greco-Roman wrestling. Pozoto Shijoh, Assistant Technical Secretary of the Chakesang Wrestling Association, officiated the session as referee, while Venuh Vadeo, a young champion from CWA, conducted training on Naga wrestling.
Earlier, during the inaugural programme, Akükau Khalu Zhimo, GB of Ighanumi Village, delivered the welcome address. L. Holuto Ayemi, Vice President of the SWA, spoke briefly on the formation, growth, and activities of the Sümi Wrestling Association. He also expressed gratitude to the Chozuba Area Wrestling Association for providing the training mats.
SWA officials later held a short meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming Hornbill Wrestling Competition and the NWA Open and Provisional Members Championship.
