Dimapur, Oct 2 (MExN): The Tangkhul Longphang, Dimapur, while condemning what it called the most despicable act of extortion committed on the evening of September 29 by two Tangkhul youths, made clear that the two would be ‘driven away’ from Dimapur for their act and for bringing bad name to the community. The two youths are James, son of Peter of Tuinem village and Shaipam Zimik, son of Dearson Zimik of Wahong village. The two extortionists with an accomplice, one Mukhimong Yimchunger, had extorted money from four women at Hotel Orient, Dimapur.
The Tangkhul Longphang stated in a note of condemnation that it had ‘heaved a sigh of relief’ when the Dimapur East Police station arrested the three. “Such prompt action on the part of the police personnel is highly laudable and we appeal to them to award the extortionists a very stern, befitting punishment as per law and reject any move for their bails” stated the Longphang through its President NA Kasar. The Longphang will ‘drive away’ these two extortionists from Dimapur even after termination of their jail terms for being a black sheep and for bringing a bad name to the community, it added.
