‘Taxes hampering development works’

Kiphire | November 11 : Fulfilling the promise made during his earlier visit few years ago, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Azo Nienu yesterday visited District Hospital Kiphire. The purpose for his visit was to oversee the construction work of DHK from 50 bedded to 100 bedded which was the long cherished dream of the people of the district. He made the visit along with the department engineers and contractors.
Interacting with the GBs, DBs and the district administration during his visit the minister said, ‘Developmental activities cannot progress in Nagaland due to taxes from various organisation and stated “Nagaland is exhausting due to taxes.”
Sharing his observation that Nagas spent lot of money on health check-up in neighbouring states which on the other hand is draining out our economy, the Minister said that in order to contain our economy he has given priority to upgrade hospitals in the district with modern facilities. He called upon the gathering to put hands together to improve health sector.  “I want the project to come up so am here personally so that the people get benefit out of this,” the Minister stated.
Responding to queries of the elders on under staff medical officers and the lack of basic equipments like X-Ray and ultrasound in the DHK, the Minister assured that the department will provide all necessary equipment and also added that he will also convey the grievances of the district to the chief minister personally.
The Minister also expressed gratitude to the senior citizens for assuring to oversee the smooth construction of the work and called upon the gathering to see that the district hospital is completed without any disturbances from any sector.
Sharing concern of the district hospital Kiphire, senior citizens asked the Minister to provide all necessary equipment to the DHK and also asked the Minister to post enough doctors as some of the specialised and doctors posted against Kiphire are being attached to other district.
Earlier Dr I Sungit CMO welcomed the visiting Minister and said that the upcoming project is the blessing of the minister for which the district is privileged.
