TB prog conducted at District Jail Mokokchung

Inmates of District Jail, Mokokchung and others during the Special Events programme held on tuberculosis.
 
Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): The Special Events programme on tuberculosis was conducted at District Jail, Mokokchung on July 14 organized by the Catholic Health Association of India in collaboration with the RNTCP, Nagaland. The prisoners were given adequate knowledge on tuberculosis, its treatment and preventions.
A press note informed here that Aren, Senior Treatment Supervisor, RNTCP briefed the prisoners the basic on TB which is to enhance the awareness and knowledge levels on TB symptoms, referrals, treatment and defaulter finding and put back to treatment by identifying the nearest TB centres in the community. Aren also said that in India 21% has infected with TB from the whole World population which is sad and need to give more efforts from all walks of life so as to eradicate TB from our district together one must take our own responsibilities to give more information on TB to every individuals and the societies.
He further explain about the TB incidence in India 2 deaths in Three minutes, 1000 deaths in a day and 37000 deaths in a year due to TB in India. He also shared basic on TB, Treatment course, Stigma and discrimination attached to TB. Kyupise Sangtam DCO, CHAI briefed about the Project “Axshya” which he said is TB project under GFATM-R-9 focusing mainly on Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) under Catholic Health Association of India which is one of the largest NGOs in the World based at Secunderabad.
He clearly explain about the ACSM Strategy for eradicating TB epidemic in India by 2015 (MDG Goal) which he said that not only the policy makers, politicians, bureaucrats or the health staff alone may initiate into controlling the diseases but it must be every individuals, Churches and the Civil Societies to take a lead role in combating this killer disease together. At the last part of the program, the prisoners were raised their doubts and asked the questions on TB which they were all cleared their doubts, myths and misconception. 36 inmates of the prisoners from different districts and other states represents were well sensitized on Tuberculosis.
