Phek, December 28: A two day long 75th anniversary celebration of the Thuvopisu Baptist Church got underway on December 28 with Rev. Vezopa Tetseo, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) unveiling the monolith and declaration of the celebration.
In the opening ceremony, Rev. Vezopa Tetseo delivered a message on the topic “Commitment for Jesus.” A souvenir commemorating the glorious 75th gospel ministry was released by Rev. Dr. Dusanu Venyo, co-ordinator CMS.
Day two service will start from 9: 00 AM onwards on December 29 with Rev. Dr. Dusanu Venyo as the speaker and Minister for health & family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will grace the cultural exhibition at 1:00 PM on December 29. The programme will be followed by jubilee feast and evening service by 4:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Phuveyi Dozo, director OSC India as the speaker.
The gospel came to this village through Lt. Lesonyi Dozo (S/o Musheyi Dozo), the first pioneer of the gospel who received Jesus Christ and was baptized on October 31, 1936 by evangelist Neisier of Khonoma in Kohima Mission Compound at the age of 18.Thuvopisu village had been declared as Christian village on April 17, 2011 with Veyone Dozo as the last covert.
