DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): The Nodal officer for Dimapur COVID activities, Y Kikheto Sema (IAS) along with Commissioner Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo, IPS; ADC Dimapur, Athoke Aye; and Deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr Antoly visited COVID Care Center (CCC) at New DC complex Chümoukedima on May 17.

On learning about the plight of the 33 COVID positive occupants who were mostly poor migrant labourers including Naga people who do not have facilities for home isolation and helpers helping Naga families, Sema appealed to the churches, NGOs and various organisations to bear their food expenses for some days, weeks, months, if not for whole time.

“Invest in teaspoon and get back in shovel, and this is the right place where we can invest as mission work,” Kikheto maintained.  Team Dimapur is catering the occupants of the CCC at the rate of Rs 350 per head per day and anyone willing to help can contact the District Task Force Dimapur.

The team also visited Medziphema Community Health Center where Advisor Zhaleo Rio was also seen creating awareness and encouraging the people to take the vaccination provided free of cost by the government. He urged the Advisor to inform the authorities about the enormous responsibility Dimapur was shouldering and the need for huge resources. Sema explained that Dimapur being the gateway to Nagaland, all travellers/returnees entering Nagaland are monitored after which positive people are kept at Dimapur while the people with negative COVID status are sent to their respective destination.

As such, Dimapur accounts for 61% of COVID positive cases in the State. He also advised the people not to listen to negative rumours about COVID vaccination and encouraged them to take their doses.

Impressed with the functioning of Medziphema CHC, Sema commented that it was one of the most well maintained health centers and asked the health workers to be mentally prepared.

At Niuland, the team met and interacted with the ADC Niuland and health workers. The Nodal Officer requested the Deputy CMO Dimapur to undertake sample survey in the entire area, especially in the boundary belt.

Concerns regarding poor network connectivity hindering registration for vaccination in Niuland were communicated to the Nodal Officer. He assured to take up the matter with the authorities concerned.
The Nodal Officer meanwhile stated that ill treatment of frontline workers, particularly health workers, would not be tolerated and urged all to continue to hold them in their prayers.
