The two quarterfinal matches of the 27th Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2025 saw commanding performances from Telongjem FC and Chargers FC, both registering emphatic victories to secure their spots in the semifinals on October 21. The tournament is being held at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
Telongjem FC, the three-time defending champions, displayed their trademark composure and attacking precision to overpower Sports Society Soyim (SSS) with a convincing 4–0 win in the first quarterfinal of the day.
Telongjem struck early through Tarepnungsang, who opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Their momentum continued as Thejasetuo B Gwirie doubled the lead in the 34th minute, giving Telongjem a comfortable cushion at halftime.
After the break, Telongjem’s dominance remained unchallenged. Tarepnungsang secured his brace in the 49th minute, while Vitho Kiho capped off the performance with a well-taken goal in the 60th minute to seal a comprehensive 4–0 victory.
With this result, Telongjem FC advanced to the semifinals, continuing their quest for a record fourth consecutive MDFA title.
In the second quarterfinal, Chargers FC produced the tournament’s most commanding performance yet, thrashing Thunderbolt FC 7–0 in a one-sided contest.
Takotoba opened the floodgates in the 5th minute, and Longkhai doubled the lead six minutes later. Longkhai struck again in the 24th minute, and Yangersosang added a fourth in the 31st minute, sending Chargers into halftime with an unassailable lead.
The second half saw no let-up from the dominant Chargers. Longkhai completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute — the first of the tournament — before Osen made it six in the 71st minute.
Tongpangnokdang put the finishing touch in the 75th minute, rounding off a stunning 7–0 rout.
The emphatic win sends Chargers FC into the semifinals as one of the top-scoring teams of the tournament, while Thunderbolt FC, despite earlier promise, bow out after a heavy defeat.
With these results, the semifinal lineup for the 27th MDFA Trophy 2025 is now complete: Telongjem FC, Chargers FC, Doyang Strikers Mokokchung, and Super Seniors FC have advanced to the final four.
