Taking real life people’s episode and sharing their experience through song writing and melody takes talent and understanding. Bringing one such song in the music scene of Nagaland is the latest release of Temsu Clover called ‘Sally Forth.’
In the words of the artist herself, ‘Sally Forth’ is about moving forward enthusiastically from a toxic relationship situation. “This is a very sensitive topic emotionally and people often don’t talk about it out loud. Being an empathetic writer, I was inspired to compose this song by people who are really close to me,” she told The Morung Express.
The music production is a complete package of storytelling, lyrics and video. “The song was produced along with Vitz Zhimo. We also worked together on my previous songs before. And my good friends and some of the finest musicians Theja Chase on the guitar and Eli Patton on the Piano,” She said.
“The rest of the instruments like the violins and cello were programmed on Eli’s laptop at his bedroom. We really wanted to use live musicians for the strings but definitely in the future. But for now, everything comes out from our bedrooms and is all home grown,” she added.
The vocals were recorded at M.A.P Studio.
For the music video, Temsu had the vision “to tell a story visually too. More like a movie.” She said that her good friend Kohdi understood that vision. “I would say it was all God’s plan. From finding the perfect actors for it to finding the perfect people to work with,” she said.
The video was directed by Kohdi Jing and Temsu Clover while the concept and the story was build around by Temsu who is also the screen writer. The details with the storyboard were added by Ben Patton as Co- writer.
Top bring the characters of the story to life, the main actors of ‘Sally Forth’ are Kilang Jamir and Temjennaro. Kilang is a film and theatre artist. He is also known for his stellar role in the popular Naga series ‘Dreams & Chaos’, a project of the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church Youth Ministry. Temjennaro is a passionate self learned actress who is active in her Church and has been in some music videos in the state.
Temsu is grateful for the support from Tokato Yepthomi and Vibo Phuleshe, Mughapuka Phuleshe, Kevin Takahashi, Space Thriftx & AT Patisserie, Dimapur.
Leaving a note to her fans, Temsu said, “Thank you so much for listening to my music and for receiving them with love. My album comes this year and I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
