Tension eases along Nagaland-Manipur border

DIMAPUR, MAY 4 (MExN): With the intervention of two Hohos namely Pochury Public Forum and Tangkhul Naga Long the tension over the Border issue between Jessami and Meluri Village has been eased as a joint coordination meet of the two Hohos along with the two Villages was held at 111 BSF ‘E’ Coy Camp Akash Bridge on 3rd May 2012. 

This was informed in a joint press statement from Solomon Ningshen, President of Tangkhul Naga Long and Ghachu Trakha, President of Pochury Public Forum.  As per the press note, the two villages unanimously signed a joint undertaking stating that both the Villages shall abide by and adhere to the decisions that will be set and decided by PPF/TNL after consulting both the Villages on the matter pertaining to land dispute. 

The joint meeting had also resolved certain agreement points. This includes reaffirming the two directives issued earlier on 23rd November 2011, by TNL/PPF and 21st April 2012 issued by Administrative heads of Ukhrul & Phek District along with the two Hohos. It also resolved that to come into an amicable solution, both the Villages have agreed to submit documents of previous settlements in a week time to PPF/TNL.

Lastly till such time an agreeable solution is made, no Press statements by both the Villages shall be made and if deemed necessary joint press statement shall be given only by PPF/TNL. According to the joint press statement, the meeting concluded with a sense of reconciliation among the two villages.  All together 18 members including PPF/TNL & representatives from both the villages attended the meeting which was coordinated by Ashang Shaiza Executive member TNL.
