DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): After a lull, factional tension was felt in Dimapur at Naharbari village, Sunday evening. According to reliable reports, cadres of the GPRN/NSCN (Khehoi) and the NSCN-K were party to a standoff, reportedly over the supposed setting up of an NSCN-K designated camp in Dimapur. According to sources, the GPRN/NSCN is opposed to the reported move of the NSCN-K to have a designated camp in the outskirts of Dimapur town, somewhere around Naharbari. The NSCN-K, in ceasefire with New Delhi, on their part is maintaining that their move is with the sanction of the Government of India. Sources informed that at present, the GPRN/NSCN is said to have a camp in Purana Bazaar, while the NSCN/GPRN has its CFMG office at 4th Mile. The sources added that a senior NSCN-K military commander has his residence in the vicinity. However its connection to the standoff cannot be ascertained. Incoming reports from Naharabri informed that anxious residents hearing of the virtual standoff were standing vigil, the violence of 2008 still fresh in everyone’ minds. The police and the district administration were monitoring the situation. Till the time of filing this report, information suggested that the tension was at controllable limit.
