DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): The annual multi-disciplinary fest of Tetso College commenced on December 11 at the amphitheatre on the main campus, with an opening ceremony attended by Dr Rosy Tep, Vice-Principal of Tetso College, along with deans, school heads, faculty, and students. The four-day event promises an array of competitions among the four houses—Hornbill, Tragopan, Amur Falcon, and Cochoa—representing various departments.
The fest includes a diverse line-up of events such as Extempore Speech, Slam Poetry, Tetso Got Talent, Storytelling, a Theme Costume Contest, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Women’s Futsal, Chess, Carrom, Online Games (Mobile Legends and PUBG), a Memory Test, Quiz, Spell Bee, Debate, Marathon, Photography Contest, Powerlifting, Reel-Making, Arm Wrestling, Men’s Football, Volleyball, Tug of War, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, 100m Race, 400m Race, 800m Race, and Relay Race.
In his welcome address, Hawaibam Loiyumba, Coordinator of the Tetso Student Council, described the fest as a celebration of values, respect, integrity, and unity, noting its role in inspiring participants to learn, excel, and showcase the vibrant diversity within the Tetso community.
Delivering the special address, Dr Rosy Tep highlighted the significance of the fest in celebrating the students’ multifaceted talents. She emphasised that education transcends classroom learning, thriving through co-curricular activities that shape holistic individuals. Dr Tep elaborated that the fest offers a platform for students to demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and leadership skills across disciplines such as debates, quizzes, and sports. Participation, she explained, not only tests students’ knowledge and abilities but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration. She encouraged students to seize opportunities for growth and self-discovery, whether in academics, sports, or the arts, and described the event as a moment to cherish and learn from one another.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Therali Rebecca Ezung, a BA 5th Semester Linguistics Honours student, and included an oath-taking ceremony led by Temsu Longkumer, Coordinator of the Tetso Olympics Committee.
