Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The five-day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Rethinking Critical Theory and Praxis in the Humanities and Social Sciences’ organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Tetso College, Dimapur, which began on July 13 concluded today.
The last day had two technical sessions which saw Dr Basil Darlong Diengdoh of Dibrugarh University deliver a talk on Critical and Literary Perspectives on Post-Humanism, and Dr Sreesha Udupa of Nālandā University speak on Critical Health Humanities: Illness and Medico-Political Discourses. The Valedictory Session was chaired by Tatongkala Pongen, Head of the Department of History, Tetso College.
Three participants shared their remarks and feedback during the Valedictory Session: Rajani Karki Chettri, Assistant Professor at St. Anthony's College, Shillong credited this Online FDP with encouraging critical thinking and inspiring further research on several avenues in the field of humanities and social sciences.
Dr Alemmenla Walling, Assistant Professor, St Joseph's University, Dimapur, said that this FDP was indicative of how such hybrid subfields, which comprises of philosophy, psychology, history, cultural, literary, and linguistics studies and more, have woven into the grain of critical theory and made its way into the contemporary bastion, which is striking, thought-provoking, and relevant.
Surajit Sen Purkayastha, Deputy Registrar (Examinations), ICFAI, Meghalaya, appreciated the distinguished array of resource persons the FDP had and lauded the academic and intellectual engagement these five days had to offer.
In conclusion, Dr S Elika Assumi, Coordinator of the FDP and IQAC, Tetso College, stated that the present pandemic has forced us into adapting novel learning avenues, but the success of this Five Day Faculty Development Programme was indicative that academics is moving in the right direction. This is collaboration in the true spirit of knowledge, she said, and thanked the college authorities, the coorganizers of the FDP, the esteemed resource persons, the IT team of Tetso College, and all the participants for their role in making this programme a success.
The FDP was attended by 188 participants from different parts of India.
