
Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): Thahekhu village east gate cum waiting shed was inaugurated this morning by Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor, Sericulture and Cooperation as chief guest. Gate and waiting shed was constructed under a scheme of MGNREGA. The village has benefited a lot through the schemes of rural development department.
The inaugural programme was attended by MLA Y. Hewoto Awomi, Visasolie Lhoungu, Project Director, DRDA Dimapur, Alemla Chishi, Programme Officer, DRDA Dimapur, host of other DRDA officers and village elders of Thahekhu, stated a press note.
The note stated that speaking on the occasion the chief guest said it is an achievement of the village under national flagship programme. He said that other states are performing better in implementation of MGNREGA schemes.
Urging the villagers the make best use of the fund, he maintained that Thahekhu is one of the best performing VDB in the state. He further urged the departmental officials to be sincere and honest and guide the villagers for proper implementation of the schemes. He donated a sum of Rs. 2 lakh towards VDB Thahekhu, it said.
Also, delivering a short on behalf of the department, Visasolie Lhoungu maintained that suspicion arising among the villagers over management of fund is biggest stumbling block to development of the village. However, he said that the newly inaugurated project is clearly a sign unity and understanding among the villagers. Project Director called upon the villagers to care and preserve the assets of the community. On conclusion, PD appealed to the villagers not to ask for percentage from the applicants.
