Thahekhu FC with Roko Angami and others on October 5
Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): Thahekhu FC lifted the champion of the Dimapur District Football League (DDFL)-cum-Late Hejeto Ayemi Football Trophy on October 5 at Dimapur.
Dimapur United Sporting Club stood runner- up.
Gracing that closing ceremony as the guest of honour, Roko Angami, OSD, Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Govt of Nagaland, congratulated the Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA) for tireless efforts in promoting football through this league cum Lt. Hejeto Ayemi Football Trophy.
“Today, the championship serves as a reminder of immense potential that league football holds in building a strong foundation for the sport, it nurtures talents from a young age instilling values such as teamwork, discipline, hard work and sportsmanship that extend beyond the football pitch, he said.
He extended sincere appreciation to the family members of Lt. Hejeto Ayemi for their goodwill and generosity in making this Tournament possible.
Meanwhile, Roko who is also the treasurer of the Nagaland Football Association and former International footballer, placed on record his appreciation to the initiatives being undertaken by the present government of Nagaland under the leadership Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio towards the promotion and development of sports in the State.
He said that the government has developed more than 30 futsal grounds and several artificial Turf Grounds across the state while many are under construction.
“These initiatives reflect the Government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure creating opportunities for Athletes and empowering the youth of Nagaland through sports,” he said.
Lanutoshi Yaden, General Secretary DDFA and Councillor Ward -9 Dimapur Municipal Council shared greetings.
The closing ceremony was led by DDFA assistant general secretary Keyi Putiang while vote of thanks was proposed by DDFA president Mughato Sumi.
