The Naga youths of today are to be proud of as a people and a nation because in the course of time our ancestors and forefathers consistently and relentlessly defended our nation whenever foreigners invaded our country. And now it is a bounden duty of the Naga youths today to defend our sovereignty and Naga democratic tradition at all cost.
We are proud of our sagacious leaders who had well founded our nation and moreover God is leading our nation from the beginning and sustained us through the years of trial. And through God’s intervention in the Indo-Naga conflict, Church leaders initiated peace in 1964. But the Indian Government unilaterally abrogated cease-fire in 1972 and escalated war again on Nagaland. But through God’s intervention, Peace was restored once again in 1975. Hence, the youths of today have a chance to confront the aggressor India through peaceful means with the might of truth and historical fact.
However, it is sad to say that some of our youths were deceived and misled by self centered leaders, thus they have been used the force of Naga youths to destroy Naga democratic tradition and fight against our own Nagas. Moreover, the character of youths have been spoiled and led them to tell lie, make them involved in ruthless activities and anti-social activities such as torturing, killing, kidnapping, extorting, looting, robbery etc. Now even they are leading the Naga youths to sell out Nagaland for their own benefits. In this treachery and perfidious trend, many youths have lost their lives in vain and they might have lost their souls as well because they were led to involve in the anti-Christ and anti-social activities by the mischievous leaders.
Therefore, through this column I would like to appeal to all youths of Nagaland to re-examine with deep thought and vision so that our youths be used no more by self-centered and sectarian leaders. The career of youths should not be spoiled anymore by mischievous leaders. But let our youths firmly uphold the Naga national principle annunciated in the Plebiscite of 1951 and its immutable mandate given to the Naga National Council and let them stand in one accord to defend our sovereignty under the banner of the Naga National Council (NNC) as our forefathers had done.
