Thenyizumi games and sports meet concludes

Eastern Shunyizu and Lower Yotuzu before the final match along the guest of honour in Thenyizu on Thursday.

Kohima, December 20 (MExN): The 48th Games & Sports meet of the Thenyizumi Youth Social Welfare Organisation (TYSWO) concluded at Thenyizu local ground under Phek district on Thursday.


Guest of honour Selakhoyi Kapu, Secretary, village council Thenyizu in his short speech advised the athletes to have a clear vision and choose particular sports stating the ‘Jack in all trades' doesn't yield in today's professional world and encouraged the youth to be sincere and work hard.
He also later gave away the awards to the winning teams.


Seven colonies competing for the coveted title, the overall champion was awarded to East Shunyizu, while Venuzo Dawhuo and Shodulu Swiho were adjusted for the best individual awards in men and women category.
In men football final match, East Shunyizu defeated Lower Yotuzu in the final match to win the title. Hard luck for Lower Yotuzu team as they failed to break the deadlock during the stipulated time and East Shunyizu took the trophy after winning the final match on penalties by 3-2.


In women football final, Shodulu Swiho scored the only goal during the match to help Upper Rukhro defeat Lower Yotuzu and take the title.
It was also informed that the best athletes will now represent the village in the upcoming 49th games and sports meet 2019 of Chokri Area Games and Sports Assocation scheduled on Jan. 4 next to be held at Khulazu Basa under Phek district.
