Therie to head NPCC Political Affairs Committee

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The newly constituted Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of NPCC has held its first meeting on July 14, 2011 at Congress Bhavan Kohima and has nominated K.Therie as the convener of the Committee.
A press note issued by Medokul Sophie, general secretary (Admn), NPCC stated that the meeting has seriously deliberated on the ongoing talk of the Naga political problem, considering the grave situation and sufferings of our people under “defunct state government and multi-parallel government”. It was also stated that the meeting therefore decided to urge the government of India to resolve the Naga political issue within time bound and also asked the negotiating parties to make the talk transparent so that the public can participate constructively. The committee also appeals to all underground factions to formulate their agendas for final settlement.  The meeting has sought public support and co-operation to expedite the political solution.
The note mentioned that the meeting also has seriously considered Imkong Imchen’s statement in reference to 16-point agreement wherein he has expressed that he is not satisfied with 16 point Agreement and have demanded the signatories to withdraw their signatures. “Since Imkong Imchen is not satisfied with the 16 point Agreement, the PAC has recommended to NPCC to demand the resignation of Imkong Imchen as he should not be harvesting the benefit of the Agreement,” it further stated in the note.
