Impressing upon the importance of sustainable development, L. Kenneth Punyü, Associate Professor, Science College Jotsoma on Sunday underlined the need to think about the future generations by making sustainable choices.
He was speaking at the 20th Dzülekemia Teisozha (Dzüleke Village Day) at the Dzüleke Village Council Hall on January 25 wherein he exhorted that the lack of mobile and internet connectivity in Dzüleke has also driven its natives to invent newer ideas.
In this context, he urged upon the gathering to take advantage of what it lacks and to continue to uphold trust and unity among themselves, which he stated belief is one of their greatest assets.
He also urged the village community living outside in different places to come back to the village and further develop it while pointing out that if the natives themselves don't do that, no one else would.
"Develop your farms, build your businesses", he exhorted while exuding hope that once the village has access to the internet and mobile connectivity, they would have the possibility to do everything even while living in the village.
Others who spoke on the occassion also stated various concerns for further development of Dzüleke Village and challenged the gathering to contribute in the best of their abilities for the betterment of the community.
A minute's silence was also observed for the departed souls. Other highlights of the programme included prayer by Letso Meyase, Pastor, Baptist Church Dzüleke, special number by Thenupfüko (women folk), vote of thanks by Saphrü, GB Dzüleke Village while the programme was chaired by Vitsiepielie Sophi, Chairman, Dzüleke Village Council.
