The bloody war of upmanship and false superiority in Nagaland and the mindless incidents of terror, inhuman attitude and brothers killings brothers is not hidden from anyone. The present social tensions and fear in the people is a direct result of the factions having outgrown their boots and become a law unto themselves, having no regard whatsoever for the feelings and anguish of mass Nagas, using blackmail and even gun to have their way.
No part of public life is untouched by these selfstyle gun carrying terror monsters. We toil in the fields, offices and businesses to earn bread, feed these national workers and also pay heavily for their weapons and lavish life, in return they torture us, betray us and hide more than they reveal.
Every Naga citizen knows their inhuman treatment and the fear in his fellow Naga. People are fed up of this tyranny. These armed hoodlums have been creating havoc in public places and preventing routine work in Phek areas for long. I am sure that poor Naga brothers in other areas may not be faring any better. Recently, they prevented us even from going to our fields, and children were threatened not to go to schools, till we submit to their dictates.
Our Biblical spirit and brotherhood never teaches us any such tyranny. Who is behind this and what do they want? Now we cannot earn even our daily bread without their permission? Such a pity we never lived to see such days. We have the right to decide our daily life and our fate and Jesus gave us brains to think. This suffering must stop and armed soldiers must learn caution and respect basic human rights and public sentiments. Nothing can be forced for long. Please behave and earn respect, don’t demand it. How long can we wait for good sense to prevail?
