After 9 years of patient suffering and waiting, the time has come for the majority public, the neglected and the needy of Northern Angami II Assembly constituency to wake up and make their voices heard against corruption and injustices in the constituency. As I have already pointed out earlier, during the last 9 years of DAN government, a handful of the chief minister’s men have already amassed wealth beyond their imagination at the expense of the general public.
Now is the season of the common man to join hands together to bring about more equitable distribution of opportunities and wealth. It is time for the general public to reject the leadership of those people who are already drunk with power and wealth and restore the prestige and image of the constituency.
We (Angamis) should be grateful that other tribes have many times reposed faith in our leadership and given the highest chair with full faith. Angami leadership is based on respect, principle and integrity and not on monetary power. Thus through the blessings of God and Nagas in general, Angami leaders like TN Angami, Vizol and JB Jasokie were chosen to run the state. These leaders during their time had run the state well because of their dedication, commitment and concern for Nagas as a whole. However, the present leadership seems to be lacking the positive qualities except monetary influence.
With the present leadership, the gap between the rich and poor is now unbridgeable and corruption and favouritism is seen and felt everywhere, especially in our constituency. Now, other tribes are afraid and apprehensive to hand over leadership to us and this has brought bad name to our prestigious constituency.
To restore the reputation of Northern Angami II and its people, we must work together without thinking about individual benefits but for common good and prosperity. In the next assembly election, let us take the right decision and vote consciously and not be swayed by temporary gains or monetary benefits.
To the NPF youth wing president, II Northern Angami II A/C, Kechalhoubie Talie who gave a rejoinder to my earlier article, I want to say that the article is my frank and direct observation of the present situation in our constituency. Yes, I am presently based in Dimapur but being a native of Northern Angami II A/C, my heart and concern is with my constituency people who are suffering. It is also true that I spent many days and nights in “far-off jungles” as a log businessman. I make a hard but decent living and try to provide for my family through the sweat of my brow and not by clinging or fawning on the political bosses.
My article was not against the NPF so instead of pointing fingers at me, the NPF wing youth president of N. Angami II A/C would have done better if those affected by the article had given the rejoinder so that I could also have given a better reply.

Former candidate of Dimapur-I A/C
