Tizit sub-division bans single-use plastics from September 1

TIZIT, AUGUST 22 (MExN): In compliance with a government order dated July 20, 2024, and citing serious environmental hazards posed by plastic waste, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tizit, Relise Sangtam, has announced a ban on single-use plastics within the jurisdiction of Tizit sub-division effective September 1, 2025.

The prohibition will include all single-use plastic bottles, carry bags—irrespective of thickness, size, or colour—and plastic water bottles with a capacity of less than one litre, the notification stated.

To ensure strict implementation, an enforcement team will conduct regular checks and inspections. Penalties for violations have been set at Rs 10,000 for the first offence and Rs 20,000 for the second offence. Repeated violations may lead to the cancellation of trade licenses.

The ADC urged citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives and contribute toward building a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally responsible sub-division.
