Kohima, July 14 (MExN): Students of Thinuovicha Memorial Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS), Kohima, showcased a range of innovative projects during a skill exhibition organised to mark World Youth Skills Day 2026, highlighting the role of vocational education in developing practical and employable skills.

 

A press release from the schools informed that exhibition featured student-developed projects including a sunlight sensor street light, automatic room light controller, earthquake detector, biogas plant, drip irrigation system, buzz wire game, vegetable chopper, agricultural nursery displays, renewable energy models, electrical products and homemade cookies.

 

Senior officials from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the Directorate of School Education and Lend A Hand India attended the programme. 
The visitors toured the exhibition stalls, interacted with students and appreciated the practical learning outcomes on display.

 

The programme began with a welcome address by vocational trainer Rongsentoshi, followed by remarks from Principal Kelhikha Kenye, who underscored the importance of vocational education in equipping students with employable skills, fostering entrepreneurship and promoting lifelong learning.

 

He encouraged students to continue developing innovation and creativity through hands-on learning alongside their academic studies.

Observed annually on July 15, World Youth Skills Day highlights the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. 

The event concluded with participants reaffirming the role of skill-based education in preparing students to become skilled and future-ready, the release added.
