To play in God’s team

Dr. Thamsing D. Lamkang

If you are asked to play in the World Cup, you might probably choose to play in the Brazil team, not because they choose you but you choose the team. They are well established, well recognized and more than anything else they are the best team in the World today. In Brazil all young sport people have the dream of being part of a big team. If you happened to be in one of the Brazilian city of Rio De Janeiro, you will see all the beaches are full of kids playing football in the sand, dreaming of being a great star.

For them, everything in life is focused on becoming part of the team of their dreams, to play beside one of their “Idol”, to be part of the Brazil team. To live or die is football, just like cricket in India. There is also a saying that, “A Brazilian is already prepared inside their mother’s womb to play football and born as a footballer.”

There is another team far better than the Brazil team that always wins-a team that does not dissolve with the passing of time. A team in which everyone is essential, and which everyone can join, and no specific qualities are needed. It is a team that lasts forever, not only for this lifetime but even beyond death. It is God’s team. In some countries of the world, when Christian sportsmen get together to praise God, they sing this song. Even in the 2002 WorId Cup finals Japan, the team in a circle joined hands together, lifting up their hands and voices together and sang this song;

“How good it is to see you here,
in God’s team,
Where we can sing to Jesus!
Receive the light from Him,
our praise offer
Feeling the joy of heaven here!
I want to hug you because
you’re my friend
As a brother I want to love you.
To see you worship here with me,
your hand to hold.
To be very close when you’re sad.....
In the joys I want to laugh with you.
If we walk together, it will surely be easier to continue.”

There is only one condition for joining this team; to be the child of the owner, God Himself. And the Bible tells us how to do it [John 1; 12], receiving Jesus in our life, believing in Him. The object of this team is the most important one that has ever existed; to govern the universe.

God is preparing the members of this team to play roles we have never even imagined. When you think of businessmen, kings, or governors that have thousands of people and projects in their hands... .remember that they are nothing in comparison with the incredible business God has prepared for us, and not only here on earth. Our decisions are transcendental, not only here on earth but in the visible and invisible universe.

God’s team is the most important team ever-a team in which every member is essential, and a team where all are brothers. Have you signed up yet?
