Dimapur, December 3 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Art and Culture Council (MDACC), will be, once again, organizing the premier event of Mokokchung, the M-Fest from December 13 to 15 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung. Under the slogan “Good Tidings”, among a host of features, this year’s Fest is focused on improving the relationship and understanding with the people of Assam, especially from the neighbouring districts. And hence, cultural troupes and dignitaries are invited and are expected to participate as well.
M-Fest 2011 from Dec 13 The fest will also feature the Naga Orpheus Hunt 2011 finale, rock concerts by MTV Rock On 2010 Winner Divine Connection, the hugely popular nu-melodic metal band Melodrama, the first ever Open Christmas Beat Contest, Flower Show, Handicraft Exhibition, Art and Photography Competition, Food Stalls, cultural activities and also an Amusement Fair (Mela), informed a press note issued by Allen Mark, Media & Publicity, M-Fest 2011, MDACC.
The note stated that MDACC had been organizing this event independently since 2006 and it is worth mentioning that the Council had been solely generating the required finance to host such a mega event through its own initiatives without depending on other external sources except the support and goodwill rendered by the citizens of the town and well-wishers. The event was never profit-oriented and had never yielded any income for the Council, yet the members are content that hosting such fests not only liven up the lives of the town’s folks but also give opportunities to local entrepreneurs and artisans in showcasing their works and talents, thereby projecting the town in better light to the outside world.
Organized during the yuletide season, the event is expected to attract more enthusiasm and response this year not only from the locals but also people from outside the district and the state.
The prizes for the various competitions will be as follows:
1. Open Christmas Beat Contest: 1st Prize: Rs.50,000/- 2nd Prize: Rs.25,000/- and Rs.20,000/- worth of individual prizes.
2. Photography Competition on the theme “Faces and Places of Mokokchung: 1st Prize: Rs. 5,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs.3,000/- 3rd Prize Rs.2,000/-
3. Art Competion on the theme “Mokokchung”: 1st Prize: Rs. 5,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs.3,000/- 3rd Prize Rs.2,000/-
4. Flower Competition: 1st Prize: Rs. 5,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs.3,000/- 3rd Prize Rs.2,000/-
