TPO supports anti-illegal tax drive

Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): Citizen of Nagaland had been for long plaque by rampant illegal collections in the name of “tax” by various organizations and groups; this disease has affected the public and the state economy and it is about time to do away with them, the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization today said.  The Tenyimi People’s Organization has expressed total support to the “bold initiative” of the DAN government in cracking down on illegal collections by various organizations as well as government agencies in the state.

“Citizens of the state had been for long plaqued by these rampant illegal collections in the name of tax by various organizations and groups thereby directly affecting the general public irrespective of their status and positions and also the state economy. These illegal activities had been going on at the very nose of the state enforcement agencies who were compelled to remain a mute spectator…” the TPO said in its statement.

Stating that the state government’s orders banning all illegal collections by various organizations would certainly benefit the people, the TPO, however, reminded the government that the orders should be implanted in the first place.

Urging for strict implementation of the anti-illegal tax orders and check the illegal activities, the TPO asked the government to also check corruption by ministers, parliamentary secretaries as well as by bureaucrats and government officials in various departments. The TPO mentioned the culture of ‘high percentage cuts on funds for every developmental activities,’ responsible for severely hampering the quality development and workmanship in Nagaland.

The TPO calls upon every right-thinking citizen to take the opportunity offered by the state government initiatives and come out and extend full support to collectively root out the menace of the illegal activities for once and all.
