Commemoration of 142 yrs of Anglo-Naga Peace Treaty

As part of Hornbill Festival 2022, the Mezomia Mechii Kehou (MMK) is all set to hold a traditional stone pulling ceremony on December 6 at Mezoma village in Kohima district.
This programme is being organized in commemoration of the 142 years of the Anglo- India Peace Treaty at Mezoma in 1880.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the occasion, which will start from 11:00 am onwards.
Addressing a press conference at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) office complex here today, the organizing committee extended invitation to all the Angami villages, all tribal Hohos, tourists and well wishers to be part of the programme.
The press conference was addressed by Neivikolie Khatsii- convenor organizing committee, Neisiesa Chiisi- secretary organizing committee, Khrielievi Chiisi- general secretary Mezomia Mechii Kehou and Vikosieto Krose- secretary Mezoma Welfare Forum.
Around 300 strong youth in their traditional attires will join the stone pulling ceremony.
The programme will also witness cultural performances from Tesophenyu village, Tseminyu village, Tuophema village and Kikruma village.
Mezomia will also display its biggest and heaviest traditional head gear.
The organizer are expecting around 3500 crowd. There will be cultural extravaganza and community feast.
To reach Mezoma, one has to take the route; Kohima-Hydro-Mezoma (18 Km) or Kohima- Khonoma- Mezoma (27 km)/ Zubza- Sechiima- Mezoma (29 km).
During a visit to Mezoma, one can also explore Khusezhii (In the shelter of nature’s refuge), Dziiloubou ( Abode of the Stones for the Dead), Chakhwi Cha (A perfect blend of utility and aesthetics), Sovino Tsiekha (The Shy beauty clothed in the clouds), Nhalie Badze (Watcher of Mezoma) and Rhiikhuba (The Sentinel’s Post).
