Sharp rise in congestion following relocation of DC Office
Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): Following the relocation of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Purana Bazar in East Dimapur, the area has witnessed a sharp rise in traffic congestion, prompting the Tribal Council Purana Bazar to propose a new traffic management arrangement aimed at easing vehicular movement and reducing confusion for commuters.
A press release from the council said the increasing volume of vehicles in and around the new DC Office complex has created difficulties for the public and daily commuters. After deliberations on the matter, the Council resolved to introduce a one-way traffic system in the area and appealed to the concerned authorities for its implementation and enforcement from May 12.
The proposed arrangement designates the Cana Road opposite Assam Rifles and the Church Road near Hollohon Petrol Pump as the official entry point for vehicles heading towards the DC Office. Vehicles exiting the area would be required to use the road from the Income Tax Office towards the Assistant Labour Commissioner Office.
The Council stated that the measure was being proposed “to regulate the flow of traffic and reduce confusion in the area” and to ensure smoother movement of vehicles around the office premises.
It further requested the authorities concerned to “take official note of the traffic situation, implement and manage the necessary traffic regulations and ensure proper traffic arrangements are in place for effective enforcement with effect from May 12.
The council urged commuters to follow the designated routes in order to maintain orderly traffic movement in the locality. It also called upon colony leaders to assist the authorities in regulating traffic.
