Traffic restrictions, movement of polling personnel in Phek, Kohima

Phek, April 16 (MExN): In view of the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024 and scheduled dispatch of the Polling Parties on April 17 and 18, Phek Deputy Commissioner and DEO has notified the necessary traffic restrictions and movement of polling personnel.
For traffic management, there will be total restriction on entry of vehicles inside the office premises of the DC & DEO, Phek. No vehicles will be allowed to enter beyond the upturn junction leading to DC Office.

The Officer-in-charge of Traffic Control Room shall ensure that only authorized vehicles are allowed to enter beyond the barricaded point (upturn junction) (DC, SP, Observers, Admin Officers, Nodal Officers, AEO). 

Movement of polling personnel: All the Sector Magistrates will be stationed at Public Ground, Phek Town and assemble and prepare the Polling Teams for Dispatch (Annexure-1). All the Polling Parties shall first report to Town Council Hall and meet their Sector Magistrate for attendance and briefing.

After attendance and briefing, the Presiding officer along with P0-1 shall obtain the Prescribed Proforma for Dispatch (Annexure-1) duly signed by the Sector Magistrate and proceed to DC Office Material Dispatch Centre to obtain the polling materials.
After receiving all the polling materials at dispatch center, they will obtain the signature of Master Trainer deployed at Material Dispatch Centre and proceed to the EVM Dispatch Centre.

On production of the proforma signed by the Material Dispatch Centre, the EVM Dispatch Centre will hand over the already assigned EVM/VVPAT to the concerned Presiding Officer.

After obtaining the signature from the EVM Dispatch Centre, The Presiding Officer along with the PO-1 will inform the Sector Magistrate concerned over phone and proceed to Local Ground (shuttle service) for receiving the vehicle and the security team. 6. On production of signed copy of the Prescribed Proforma for Dispatch (Annexure-1) at the Local Ground, the Nodal Officer, Transport will handover already assigned vehicle and Security Team to Presiding officer and will sign the last part of the Dispatch Proforma.

After obtaining clearance from the Nodal Officer, Transport Team at Local Ground, the Presiding Officer along with all the polling Personnel, Material, Vehicle and Security shall proceed to their assigned polling station with intimation to the Sector Magistrate.
In view of above, all the Sector Magistrates, Polling Personnel, Nodal Officers, and concerned officers have been directed to follow the above traffic and movement arrangements positively.

This was stated in an order issued by Phek DC John Tsulise Sangtam.

Kohima: Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS has issued an official order in view of the preparation for the General Election to LokSabha, 2024 from 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency and Deputy Commissioner Office Kohima being designated as the Dispatch and Receiving Centre of Polling Materials and EVMs/VVPATs. 

The order stated that it is estimated that around 700 polling team vehicles will arrive at DC office complex on April 18 and 19 for collection/deposition of the poll material. 

To ensure the smooth passage of the vehicles carrying polling teams and security personnel, the following traffic regulations will be enforced on April 18 and 19: The area starting from Razhu Point Junction via Old NST and via D-Block till TCP gate shall be No Parking Zone; the area starting from Y junction till DC office exit route shall be No Parking Zone; Northern bound vehicles shall be diverted from TCP gate towards NHAK junction, Naga bazaar, and census point Tinpatti.

This measure has been necessitated due to the shifting of the location for stationing of the Election Duty vehicle from the local ground to the IG stadium, the DC Kohima stated in an order issued through the DIPR.  

The DC has appealed to the citizens of Kohima town to comply with this directive and cooperate with the stopgap arrangement for the successful conduct of the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024.
