Phek, June 16 (MExN): Orientation training for block officials on Anemia Mukt Bharat was conducted at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek on June 15.
The training was attended by Block MO, BPMs and ASHA coordinators, stated a press release received here. Anemia Mukt Bharat was launched with special focus on the health and nutrition needs of children, adolescents, women of reproductive age group, pregnant and lactating mothers.
Dr Kolhitso Khalo, DPO RCH/UIP Phek presented the strategy to combat anemia and reduce prevalence of anemia in the district. He highlighted the activities to be carried out by the frontline workers to intensify awareness and integrate screening and treatment.
Dr Ngopelo Keviechu, SMO DH Phek spoke on the burdens of anemia, how to diagnose and manage a case of anemia. On the preventive aspect, one should cultivate eating a healthy diet and abstain from alcohol. The block officials will be further imparting training to ASHAS and school teachers.
