Training on driving skills, etiquette held for WRD drivers

A one-day training programme on “Driving Skills and Etiquette” for drivers of the Water Resources Department was held on November 14.

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 14 (MExN): A one-day training programme on “Driving Skills and Etiquette” for drivers of the Water Resources Department (WRD) was held on November 14 at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Chief Engineer, WRD, Kohima.

In his welcome address, Additional Chief Engineer Er Sobu Angami highlighted the increasing number of vehicles and the challenges posed by poor road conditions. He underscored the need to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians, noting that many road accidents occur due to mechanical failures and negligence.

He also stressed the importance of smooth coordination among drivers, encouraged the use of DigiLocker for proper digital documentation, and urged participants to develop skills for handling SOS and emergency situations.

The training featured three sessions. In Session I, Rhyuzamo Ezung, Motor Transport Officer, District Executive Force (DEF) Kohima, spoke on “Driving Licence, Vehicle Maintenance, Traffic Rules and Road Safety.” In Session II, Er A. Roland Jami, Superintending Engineer, WRD Kohima, delivered a session on “Driving Skills and Driving Etiquette.” Session III was led by H Bushan Khaminungan, Registrar, WRD Kohima, who spoke on the “Roles and Responsibilities of Drivers.”

The programme was chaired by Er Wapangnaro Imchen, Executive Engineer, WRD.
