KVK Mokokchung organised hands-on training-cum-method demonstrations on vermicomposting for women of Marep Colony under the aegis of the Women Ministry and for farmers of Aliba village.

MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, organised hands-on training-cum-method demonstrations on vermicomposting for women of Marep Colony under the aegis of the Women Ministry and for farmers of Aliba village on July 23 and August 21 respectively.

The programme was conducted as part of the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) on vermicomposting using agricultural waste.

During the training, participants were provided technical guidance on the use of worms in compost making, maintenance of vermi units and harvesting processes. They were also apprised of the benefits of using vermicompost in cultivation, which has higher nutrient content compared to other composts.

The Kendra distributed HDPE vermi beds and worms to all participants to establish their own units in their homesteads for use in farming. It expressed confidence that the trainees could become role models in vermicompost production and help expand the technology to other farmers.
