Training for WATSAN committee held at Meluri

WATSAN Committee members of the villages under PHE Phek Division along with the officials and consultants of PHED, Phek Division at the one-day training for WATSAN Committee members held at Meluri Town on December 13.
 
Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): One-day training for WATSAN Committee members on Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) was organised on December 13, 2011 at Meluri Town Hall with Tatu Thurr, EAC Phor as chief guest. Speaking on the training, Thurr said that he is encouraged to see the department working at the grass-root level, educating the people about the importance of safe drinking water and sanitation.
He also said that this training would enhance the WATSAN Committee members enabling them to know more of their responsibilities to be played in their own villages for a sustainable water and sanitation of the village. He further said that WATSAN Committee members have been empowered to look after the village water supply and sanitation, which he said is a ‘positive step’ for progress and development of the state. Altogether 60 members attended the training. Topics on good sanitary practices, evil effects of plastic burning, safe disposal of wastes, hand washing with soap, need of toilet, its technology options, water and its quality, role of WATSAN Committee and NGP were talked about by the resource persons.
Asonuo, IEC Consultant, Virhelie, Hygiene & Sanitation, Kethonu Theyo, Chemist were the resource persons. The programme was chaired by Er. Lutho Katiry SDO Phek, prayer by Rev Chithosie, Associate Pastor MVBC and vote of thanks was delivered by Tshelo, JE Phek.  The training was organized by PHE Phek Division and sponsored by WSSO (PHED) Nagaland.
