Travel advisory issued for Dmp-Khm route

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 28 (MExN): In view of blockade at National Highway 29 as a result of mudslide and ongoing restoration works at multiple locations, Kohima Police today issued a traffic advisory for commuters travelling between Kohima and Dimapur. The advisory from the PRO, Kohima Police directed heavy vehicles including vehicles transporting essential commodities proceeding towards Dimapur and vice versa to take the route via Kohima-Zhadima-Phekerkriema-Niuland. One way traffic will be enforced on this route.
It was added that traffic from Kohima to Dimapur will be allowed to ply from midnight to 6:00am while traffic from Dimapur to Kohima will be allowed from 12:00pm in the afternoon to 6:00pm. It further informed all passenger buses to take the route from Kohima-Tsiesema (10th Mile)-Peducha. Meanwhile, all light vehicles proceeding towards Dimapur and vice versa have been directed to take the route from Kohima-Jotsoma-Khonoma-Mezoma-Zubza.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Police also issued an advisory directing all Kohima bound Light Motor Vehicles to take the alternate route via 7th mile (new DC office) – Shokhuvi - Razaphe – Mhaikam – Pimla – Mhainamtsai – Jhornapani /Medziphema. It further informed all local trucks and buses bound for other districts of the state from Dimapur to take the Patkai bridge-Seithekima-Niuland – Zhadima route. The PRO, Dimapur Police further notified that the entry time of local trucks into Dimapur town from Dillai and Newfield check-gate will be relaxed from 12:00 – 6:00pm.
It was informed that clearing of the mudslides would take another 2 days. The slides occurred around 1km away from the Chümoukedima police check-post.
In another circular, the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner informed that total restriction from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to New Chumoukedima (Pakala Pahar Bridge) has been extended from 10:30pm to 5:00am till November 24.
The DC further said that all movement will be restricted from 3:00pm to 3:30pm and from 4:30pm to 5:00pm in order to favilitate the use of explosives till November 5.
“The restriction of movement is regretted. However, to avoid loss of life, property and other injuries this restriction has been imposed as a preventive measure,” the DC stated, while seeking cooperation from the public.
