Tribal confederation rejects govt’s delimitation statement

Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Confederation of Phom, Sangtam, Lotha, Zeliangrong and Rengma Students’ Unions on Delimitation Commission terms the statement of the state government on the delimitation issue as ‘absolutely misleading” and a “ploy to divert the whole issue by creating confusion.”  Refusing to toe the stand of the “one-sided” government, the students’ conglomeration has assured to launch agitations.

A note from the body also questioned the “authenticity” in the statement (issued by the Nagaland Chief Secretary) and demanded to be made public the “tentatively agreed order” and the “working paper” which led the government to avoid inter-district transfer of seats.

This demand is a matter of urgency and must be attended without delay so as (not) to cause any further confusion and misunderstanding in the minds of the people” the confederation stated. The confederation also reiterated that whatever the stand of the government may be, the demand of the students/concern communities/districts is the same – nothing falling short of full and total implementation. T has demanded that justice be delivered to Kiphire, Peren, Wokha, Longleng and Tseminyu sub-division.
