Trinamool Congress launched in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 22 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Trinamool Congress (NPTMC) was formally launched on Thursday at Ana Ki conference hall, Dimapur by Kim Gengte president Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress, Observer Nagaland and ex-MP.

A committee of two advisors and convener has been formed before constituting a full-fledged NPTMC. The advisors include Dr. Rilanthung Odyuo and S. Gangte while Er. Senkathung Jami has been appointed as the convener. Within two week’s time, a full-fledged Trinamool Congress party will be constituted in Nagaland.

Speaking at the launching programme, Kim Gengte said the NPMTC was being launched to initiate better cooperation and coordination with the goal of the party being to uplift the tribal people who have been suffering at the hands of the powerful people. She said the TMC was working for the grassroot people as evident from the party symbol of grass and flower. She likened the tribal people to grass which is often trampled by people and animals due to which it cannot grow in a bigger plant or bloom into a flower. However, Gengte said that the TMC under the leadership of Mamata Baneerjee has given hope to the tribal people and could bloom into a flower.

She also talked on empowering women and treating them as equals in the society. According to Gengte, the society cannot progress positively since women were not at par with men. She said the society would see peace and progress if women were brought out of their homes and given equal rights and responsibilities as to men.

She was accompanied by two vice presidents of MPTMC, Solomon Inah, Tomba ex-minister and treasurer Jiken. Short speeches were delivered by the vice presidents and NPTMC convener, Er. Senkathung Jami.
