
Tuensang, August 17 (MExN): The Tuensang Police, based on information from “reliable source,” arrested a suspected drug peddler from an NST bus travelling from Dimapur to Shamator on August 1.
PRO & Additional SP Tuensang, in a press release stated, the NST bus was intercepted near Tuensang town hall by a team of Tuensang Police and during the inspection of the vehicle, the team recovered 14.51 grams (approx) of suspected heroin from the possession one Tsaki Yimchunger (35 years).
In this connection, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act, it added.
Meanwhile, the PRO release highlighting various activities of the Tuensang Police in the recent past informed that the Superintendent of Police (SP), Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal conducted an awareness programme in Chare town on August 3 as a part of the continued effort to eliminate drug abuse in the district.
Members from village council, DBs, students, women, and representatives from different organisations attended the programme, which concluded with a pledge to work in coordination in spreading the awareness and controlling the abuses.
On August 11, Manish Bhartiya SDPO Tuensang also interacted with young drug addicts in Tuensang and he encouraged them to come forward with positive input to tackle drugs menace in the society.
Under the supervision of the SP Tuensang, the Family Welfare Committee of DEF Tuensang also organised baking class from August 3 to 5. Around 20 participants attended the class with trainers NCE Ram Prakash of DEF Tuensang assisted by ABC Vipul Mech.
On account of the 77th Indian Independence Day, Traffic constable, T Throngrun Yimchunger of DEF Tuensang, the senior most amongst the in-service personnel of the unit, was given an appreciation certificate along with presentation from SP Tuensang in recognition of his valuable service for the unit and Nagaland Police in general. Also 52 personnel and officers of the same unit were also awarded cash reward.
