KOHIMA, APRIL 17 (MExN): Twelve NCC cadets of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama — seven girls and five boys — were among those felicitated at a ceremony hosted by Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on Wednesday.
SUO Thushila Yimchunger and SUO Tsakhumba TY Sangtam received the Best Cadet (Senior Wing) Award and Best Cadet (Senior Division) Award-2025 of NCC Group-Kohima at the state level, respectively. The Best Cadet Award carries a cash prize of Rs 4,500.
Five cadets — CPL Muluvie-o Koza, CQM D. Shine Bibiana, LCPL Chonggunhoi Chongloi, JUO Megongusie Zinyu and JUO Vimegotso Zinyu — were conferred the NCC Cadets' Welfare Society Scholarship-2025 by Brigadier Shantanu P. Mainkar, Group Commander, NCC Group-Kohima. The scholarship carries an amount of Rs 6,000.
A further five cadets — CPL Jirhe Ngouri, CPL Grace R. Mozhui, CDT Hojila H., CPL Perampenthuibo and LCPL Vizosieto Kere — received a Governor's Certificate of Appreciation for successfully scaling Mt. Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland.
The Best Cadet Award and NCC CWS Scholarship-2025 were declared through an official letter from the NCC Directorate North East Region on March 17.
The college management and staff expressed pride in the cadets' achievements and gratitude to the officers of the organisation, including Brigadier Mainkar, Colonel Lovelesh Panghal, Commanding Officer of 1 NL BN NCC Kohima, and Lieutenant Colonel Prachetan Gahatraj, Commanding Officer of 24 NL BN NCC Chumoukedima.
